Solo Drills For a Footballer
Today I am going to show you a drill I use personally to improve my passing and also change of direction, speed and stamina.
This drill is a solo drill and all that is needed is a player, a large area (park or football pitch) and two footballs.
First off, place the two balls a fair distance apart, say 2 - 3 metres. Now, starting at whichever ball you choose, pass that ball so it hits the other ball. Make sure you pass it fairly hard and accurately so that the ball rebounds and rolls a fair distance apart from the other.
When you hit the ball, quickly run to whichever ball is closest and repeat, passing the ball into the other, as fast as you can, alternating between both feet.
Just repeat this drill over and over, for durations of say: 10 - 20 mins. Doing this you will drastically improve your short passing game. You will improve direction change and speed change, so stamina will play a decent role in this drill.
If you are finding it hard to hit the ball, slow it down and just take your time at first and gradually, as you get better, speed it up.
It does not matter if you miss the ball on some passes, just keep it going when you do. Mistakes will happen I guarantee it, so keep it moving.
Below I will show a small, very un-neat diagram of what I mean with this drill.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, it is a great drill that I incorporate into my solo training that helps drastically, as you get better, you can space the balls even further and you will be able to hit them nearly every time.
Have fun.
